State: Open |
Summary: all phone numbers sync as business - SE P990i |
Detailed description:
win2k, apache2, tomcat5.0, ds-server V3 (but same problem using portal as
well), Sony Ericsson P990i phone, when sync contacts all contact phone numbers
come through as business not home, mobile etc
from the server logs the data transferred looks OK, different contacts
have different number types, eg
BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:2.1
...
N:Name1;;;;
TEL;WORK;VOICE;CELL:09999999
END:VCARD
BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:2.1
...
N:Name2;;;;
TEL;WORK;VOICE:09999999
END:VCARD
but in the files in the ds-server\db\contact directory are all
<contact>
...
<Title/>
<FirstName></FirstName>
<MiddleName/>
<LastName>Name1</LastName>
<Suffix/>
<BusinessTelephoneNumber>09999999</BusinessTelephoneNumber>
</contact>
<contact>
...
<Title/>
<FirstName></FirstName>
<MiddleName/>
<LastName>Name2</LastName>
<Suffix/>
<BusinessTelephoneNumber>09999999</BusinessTelephoneNumber>
</contact>
when syncing with the portal see the same problem - eg contact "Anthony" on the
phone has a "Mobile" number ("cell") 08.....0 but in the portal is
"Business - Direct Phone" 08.....0
if I edit the "Business - Direct Phone" on the portal and change the
number to 08.....1 then sync again I get the 08.....1 number added to
the contact on the phone as "Phone" ("home phone") and the 08.....0 is
still on the phone as "Mobile" ("cell")
if I sync again with no other edits the phone now has only one number
"Mobile" ("cell") 08.....0 and the portal has only one number
"Business - Direct Phone" 08.....0

the P990 is UIQ 3 Symbian 9, the P900 is I think UIQ2
default phone fields are Mobile and Phone but can also add
fields for Mobile (home), Mobile (work), Phone (home) and
Phone (work) (also fax, email etc)
If I create a contact with one number - Phone, on the portal
this converts as Business Direct Phone
If I create a contact with one number - Mobile, on the
portal this converts as Business Direct Phone also
If I create a contant with two numbers - Mobile and Phone,
on the portal there is only one number (the Phone from the
P990) and it is in Business Direct Phone
If I create a contant with two numbers - Mobile and Phone
then add a field Mobile (work) and add a number, on the
portal there is only one number (the Phone from the P990)
and it is in Business Direct Phone
phone setup is:
profile:
server: http://funambol.net/sync
user/passowrd: as for portal login
transport: http
contacts:
type: synchronize
server database: card
1) clear contacts on portal
2) create contact on phone including one or two phone numbers
3) sync

I'm trying to figure out why you are experiencing these
issues. I've been able to to some tests on P900, which is an
older version of the model you own.
This device allows to insert (and add) lots of phone numbers
(multiple home and work phones, multiple home and work
mobiles numbers, multiple home and work faxes, multiple home
and work emails).
If we hold on to the default settings (without adding any
other number) we have the following mapping (against portal):
-Phone(work) -> Business direct phone
-Phone(home) -> Home phone
-Mobile(work) -> Home cell
Can you please explain briefly how the contacts work on your
device? Is it the same as I described for P900?
Also can you provide me a detailed description of the steps
you're performing?
Thanks a lot,
